EXCITE, the Otago Polytechnic Bachelor of Design exhibitions, showcase not only the unique and innovative abilities of students in product, communications, fashion and interior design, but also their solid industry connections and focus. EXCITE, the Otago Polytechnic Bachelor of Design exhibitions, showcase not only the unique and innovative abilities of students in product, communications, fashion and interior design, but also their solid industry connections and focus.EXCITE exhibits will be showcased in A Block - the Design building and a marquee specially erected in the carpark to enable the huge range of fashions, working models, product prototypes, furniture and computer graphics to (name a few) to be displayed.
'Collections', the highly anticipated annual student fashion runway show, will be run on both Thursday and Friday nights in the EXCITE marquee. Both shows have, as in previous years, been sold out. This year there will be around 180 outfits from 60 designers on show, including the work of Julia Bellamy, runner-up in the Fashion Quarterly Young Designer of the Year competition announced last month.
Year three students Katie Marie Martin, Abby Van Schreven and Helen Adams, all finalists in the Air NZ Inspiring New Zealanders in Fashion 2006 competition, will also be showing their final year collections. These students have each benefited from an internship with renowned fashion designer Karen Walker, which was awarded as part of their prize.
Students of Mechanical Engineering and Architectural Draughting will also be presenting their project work in conjunction with EXCITE.
