A new exhibition of works by twelve contemporary artists La Lune, opened at the photographic gallery Matakana Pictures on the 15th October 2005. Continuing in a showcasing of New Zealands' premium contemporary photography, the group exhibition features a diverse mix of works by Adrienne Martyn, Carey Staunton, Emily Mafile'o, Evotia Tamua, Gary Blackman, Gil Hanly, Greg Semu, Karen Crisp,
Mikel Taylor, Sarah Munro, Tom Hutchins, and Wayne Wilson-Wong.

Mikel Taylor, Sarah Munro, Tom Hutchins, and Wayne Wilson-Wong.

Image Untitled Mikel Taylor, 2005A mix of established and emerging artists, many are exhibiting new works, or works that have never been shown in a public forum.

Images by Tom Hutchins will be exhibited for the first time. Photographed during his journey into China in 1956, Tom was one of very few Westerners to be allowed entry into the country in that era.

Gil Hanly will be exhibiting portraits from her series "Face of the Artist". Images of contemporary New Zealand artists in their studios, the series accompanies a 2006 ArtNews calendar.

Emily Mafile'o will also have images included for their first public display. Known for working big, with raw realistic images in black and white Mafile'o photographs what is known to her, her world.

La Lune is on display from Saturday 15th October until Sunday 11th December.
