Frangipani Lush, an exhibition featuring Pacific Island-inspired work by six Auckland artists, opens at the Aotea Gallery, Level 4, Aotea Centre, THE EDGE ® on Tuesday 7th March.

The exhibition has been curated by Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust Artistic Director and internationally renowned artist Lonnie Hutchinson.
Frangipani Lush, an exhibition featuring Pacific Island-inspired work by six Auckland artists, opens at the Aotea Gallery, Level 4, Aotea Centre, THE EDGE ® on Tuesday 7th March.

The exhibition has been curated by Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust Artistic Director and internationally renowned artist Lonnie Hutchinson.

Communications Manager for the Trust, Christina Jeffery, said the works on display will reflect the different backgrounds and experiences of the individual artists, some of whom have exhibited before and some of whom are exhibiting for the first time.

"One of the main aims of the Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust is to encourage new work and provide exhibition opportunities for emerging artists. We are extremely pleased that THE EDGE ® shares this vision and has provided the opportunity for us to do this with the Frangipani Lush exhibition," said Mrs Jeffery. "This exhibition expands the picture-postcard image of the Pacific and provides wonderfully detailed images of people, places, flora and fauna."

The six artists exhibiting work are: Sylvia Marsters (Blockhouse Bay), Daniella Hulme (New Windsor), Jenny Kaisala (East Tamaki), Beth Ofe-Grant (Otara), Teleise Ne'emia (Te Atatu South) and Ellie Fa'amauri (Waterview).

The Frangipani Lush exhibition is part of THE EDGE ® Public Programmes that work with various arts and community groups to present free exhibitions throughout the year. The exhibitions are open to the public during the Aotea Centre's normal operating hours (Mon to Fri - 9am to 5pm and Weekends - 10am to 4pm).

THE EDGE ® Programme Co-ordinator, Robyn Johnson, said Frangipani Lush will provide a visual feast for visitors.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome the Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust back to THE EDGE ®," said Ms Johnson. "Frangipani Lush is an exciting mix of established and emerging artists, each demonstrating their own style which makes for a varied and stimulating exhibition."
