Five new original plays written by Year 3 Writers developed under the guidance of Gary Henderson and Elizabeth Hawthorne, using professional actors directed by Year 3 Directors to celebrate the completion of their degree.These pieces will be challenging in content, dynamic in form and reveal the talent and craft of these new writers and directors as they embark on their professional careers. Please note that due to the length of the plays, they are not all presented on the same night.

"Sophie" (wr. Clodagh Mills, dir. Dan McQuillan)
Set in 1930s New York, "Sophie" tells the tale of one girl's struggle to forge her life as a dancer, encountering sex, violence, alcohol, racism and corruption along the way.

"The Girl From China" (wr. Hang Xie, dir. Nichola Jones)
A young woman from China seeks employment from a man she thinks has honest intentions -

"Long Gone Day" (wr. Paul Kumar, dir. Rachel Neems)
Experience teaches slowly and at the expense of mistakes.

Set in Niue with island songs and romance in the air: a young man's dream is to play for the all Blacks .. or is it? (NB: Partial Niue dialogue with subtitles)
