The 2004 Dunedin Fringe Festival is looking for Chindogu inspired art for an arts trail of inventive art in shop windows through Dunedin's CBD. ALLSORTS involves artists setting up installations in shop windows for the duration of the Fringe Festival (24 September - 3 October). The series of installations will then be promoted as a walking arts trail for the general public.

Allsorts was a major event at the 2002 Dunedin Fringe and this year has Inventions as the theme. We aim to have fun and to question the need for practicality and function. We dearly hope also to receive entries of Chindogu. This subtle and humorous Japanese art form, and now world-wide phenomenon involves the making of quite impractical inventions. (Do a websearch on Chindogu for more info.)

The ALLSORTS arts trail will be widely promoted in the Fringe Festival programme, and with posters and postcards featuring a map showing all locations. There will be an opening event and prizes for artists and audiences.

This event is free to participate in though there will be a selection process. The more inventive, innovative and Chindogu inspired the better. We will consider all registrations. Artists are expected to set up and remove their own work, though this can be negotiated in special circumstances and especially for true Chindogu entries.

CONTACT THE DUNEDIN FRINGE NOW FOR A REGISTRATION FORM.
