Wellington Music Week celebrates the diversity, quality and success of Music in the Capital City. The 3rd Wellington Music Week is 21-27 November 2005 and will include the popular Music Seminar Series, Showcase Wellington and other events which each aim to develop greater capability, connectivity and opportunity within the local music industry for musicians and music businesses.

Wellington Music Week celebrates the diversity, quality and success of Music in the Capital City. The 3rd Wellington Music Week is 21-27 November 2005 and will include the popular Music Seminar Series, Showcase Wellington and other events which each aim to develop greater capability, connectivity and opportunity within the local music industry for musicians and music businesses.

Showcase Wellington
Showcase Wellington brings music and music related businesses, particularly in the film and television industries into direct contact with Wellington Music. Music and screen are supported by many of the same marketing, distributing, retailing, duplicating, performing and licensing organizations. Showcase Wellington brings together as many industry-related businesses and organisations as possible that will benefit from greater awareness of Wellington Music. Held over two nights at Bodega, there will be opportunities to see and experience local music (live, recorded and video) during an evening of hospitality, entertainment and networking.

Thursday: "The Business End" - An exciting programme of new and breaking Wellington Music together with a merchandise area providing an opportunity to promote Wellington music.

Friday: "The package Birthday Party" - A special celebration of Wellington's music and creative industries which are promoted every week in The package entertainment guide - an icon of Wellington's thriving creative culture and which will be seven years old this year!

Saturday: Loop End Of Year Bash - Wellington's own Loop Recordings celebrates the end of another great year with a selection of performances by some of the fine artists on it's label.

Music Seminar Series
The Music Seminar Series is for people looking to make an income from music. The three seminars will present valuable and practical information and advice from respected speakers in the Wellington Music Industry, as well as providing a valuable networking opportunity. There is no charge to attend the Music Seminar Series, thanks to the generous support of speakers, sponsors and organisers.

Monday 21 Nov - Seminar 1: "Live and Direct" - Live performance is the core of our music industry, so how do you create a great show, get the crowds and take care of business? Covering topics related to the stage, professionalism, presentation and doing deals.

Tuesday 22 Nov - Seminar 2: "Caught On Film" - The success of local film and television has created opportunities for music but how do they come together? Covering topics related to writing and recording music for film, licensing and commissions, making deals and making them work.

Wednesday 23 Nov - Seminar 3: "Record Time" - Recording is a major step, so when is the right time, what the options and challenges, and will anyone buy it? Covering topics related to preparation, studios and producers, 'live' v studio, production values and marketing.

Mayoral Reception
Mayor Kerry Prendergast has generously agreed to host a Mayoral Function at Council Chambers on Thursday 24 November (5.30pm - 7.30pm). This important function of provides a valuable opportunity for invited members of the music and film industries to come together. A small number of brief presentations will also be given regarding significant local developments.
