Today’s story is a story of elation and celebration. There are lots of smiles on the faces of the The Big Idea team. We can’t wait to announce a new initiative.
So often we hear of the struggle those in the creative community have to find the vital support they need. I recall running into Jenny Gill at the Auckland Writers Festival and being compelled to tell her how great it was that Foundation North supported such a dynamic event.
Now its our turn to say thank you.
For some years Foundation North has recognised the value of the work we do with artists and the creative community and again this year they have supported us to support you.
Last year a survey of our members revealed that professional mentoring in the arts was a major unmet need. That research was made possible thanks to the investment of Arts Regional Trust. We have just received news that in addition to funding The Big Idea’s core activity Foundation North will be enabling us to get our first Mentoring in the Arts program under way this year. So watch this space to apply.
Pat Snedden, the chair of our board noted, “At a time when funding for the arts is not only hard to find but hard to keep we are so delighted that Foundation North and Arts Regional Trust have had the foresight to assist in birthing this leadership initiative in the arts community.”
