One of New Zealand's up and coming literary stars, McHalick first came to prominence when a story of hers became the title story in Emily Perkins' anthology The Picnic Virgin. Not long after the publication of The Picnic Virgin McHalick published a collection of short stories, The Honey Suckers, and more recently the novel The Taming.
The New Zealand Book Council, in association with HARPERCOLLINS NZ presents McHalick's reading. Tasman Friends of the Library are hosting the event and tickets are still available.
