Dan Adams (Verona frontman) and Peter La Grand (Vancouver songwriter) show Wellington two sides of their impressive musical talents this week, first at Happy on the 8th and then Bodega on the 10th.Dan Adams (Verona frontman) and Peter La Grand (Vancouver songwriter) show Wellington two sides of their impressive musical talents this week, first at Happy on the 8th and then Bodega on the 10th.In October, a group of Wellington musicians (including members of Good Laika, Verona and Milkthistle) put on a fundraiser to support this New Zealand visit by Canadian songwriter Peter La Grand. To lead off their national tour, Dan and Peter will play two very different gigs in Wellington.

Firstly, Sad Songs at Happy (8pm, Friday 8 December), invites the love sick, the melancholic and the disenfranchised to an evening of exquisite songs about heartbreak, rejection, death, pain, misery and loss.

The idea occurred while La Grand and Adams were in Canada recording Peter's debut album Falling Down In Place. Dan says: "Peter would put these utterly tragic songs on, driving to and from the studio, and after each of them we'd just nod and say 'so good... so sad... so good.' "

Then, on Sunday 10 December, Peter and Dan are joined by Verona members Dan Lambert and Allan Street, plus Sebastian Morgan-Lynch, Oscar Bullock and Delia Shanly to play Folk Americana Meets Kiwi - a real 'n' raw slice of original sounds - kicking off at 7pm at Bodega.
