This has been a remarkable result for the choir and has also been preceeded by recent similar accomplishments in Wales and Canada. The Choir travelled to Spain after having won placings in two categories at this year's International Musical Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales, and participated in top notch choral festivals in Canada.
This vibrant group of young people had been chosen to represent New Zealand amongst international competitors, presenting a range of international and New Zealand works; the accuracy of the Choir's classical repertoire, positioned alongside full-blooded waiata, generated excitement with audiences and international dignitaries alike.
Competition standards were exceptionally high this year (mentioned by several adjudicators) and the Choir has received heartfelt congratulations for achieving as highly as they did.
