A very modern take on an old story, Hawaiian Pixie is a comedy/romance by first-time playwright Katherine Parks. Ellen, hoping to re-ignite her relationship with ex-partner, Tim, takes her daughter, Saffron, to stay at an hotel in Hawaii. Saffron is struggling to get over a broken love affair and Ellen hopes that the lush tropical atmosphere will prove to be a breeding ground for romance. In fact she has taken steps to ensure that this will definitely be the case. Strong characters, some very intriguing situations, including an excruciating Elvis karaoke night, all make for a unique NZ play.
Will Ellen succeed in transforming her daughter's life? Will appearing in the Elvis of Your Homeland Kareoke Competition help Tim to worm his way back into Ellen's affections? Will Saffron fall for the handsome American? Will Dan live up to all he seems to promise in the way of romance?
All these questions and more will be answered and there are plenty of laughs along the way in this unusual tale of romantic misadventure.
