Wired reveals the "textbook's worth of enviro-engineering tricks" used in the new California Academy of Sciences, which aims to be the world's largest eco-friendly public building when it reopens in 2008. The US$484 million museum project - one of the most expensive in a century - features recycled materials (including shredded blue jeans which insulate the walls) and passive climate control. The 2.5-acre 'living roof' provides a habitat for butterflies, hummingbirds and other critters.
