with a tale of redemption in the Pacific.

Kia orana! Kia ora! Talofa Lava!

Drumming, conch shells, songs and dance from the islands create a right royal tempest at the Dell, with a supporting chorus of 25 singers and musicians and a cast of 15.
Elemental themes and tribal patterns influence the set and costume design.
Bring a picnic, come and enjoy a night under the stars! The Botanic Gardens Cafe will be open until 9pm throughout the season.

Director Sara Brodie (M.A Theatre) has over a decade of directing, choreographing and assistant directing experience in theatre and opera. Her recent directing credits include; The Threepenny Opera (WPAC), Arcadian Nights (Young and Hungry), Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (VUW), and assistant directing and choreography work on Tosca (New Zealand Opera).

Summer Shakespeare is now in it's 22nd year beginning as an initiative from the VUW Drama club. Since 1983 a Shakespearian play has been performed once a year, at the Civic Square, the University, the Dell and in various theatres.
This year sees the return to the Dell, the true home of Summer Shakespeare.
Each year a new director, administrative staff and cast are appointed.
