Is there another author in New Zealand who gets more, sheer unadulterated pleasure out of earthly delights than Keri Hulme? From her small home in remote Okarito, the famously alone and notoriously slow writer - 20 years ago, her one published novel won the Booker Prize - smacks her lips and talks of wine, whiskey, cigars, good food and long, long writing lessons.
