Image: Parihaka Pa, 1881Parihaka has always been the clarion call to peace for all peoples. Peace is the highest human aspiration. Beneath the protective mantle of maunga Taranaki, you and your family are invited to participate.
As well as being entertained, you are offered the chance to sing, to dance, to share stories, to partake of traditional healing, to create art.
The festival will feature the music, dance, theatre, comedy, film, korero, original medicine, traditional crafts, a carving symposium and a sense of peace for us all. The music and dance will take place with international level sound and lighting systems. Artists performing will be selected from those following the peace kaupapa.
They will be from Aotearoa NZ and from around the world. Some will be well known to us all. Some will be from small towns and villages worldwide of which we have never heard. Many of the best of AotearoaNZ artists are confirmed here now. Further artist confirmation announcements will be made on the web site every few weeks.
As well as performing, ambassadors from other indigenous cultures will host workshops on music, dance, traditions and the politics of their people.
