Six young playwrights singled out by Playmarket, New Zealand's playwright development organisation, in the Ninth New Zealand Young Playwrights Competition will have their work presented to the public in Auckland at THE EDGE on Friday 7 September. Six young playwrights singled out by Playmarket, New Zealand's playwright development organisation, in the Ninth New Zealand Young Playwrights Competition will have their work presented to the public in Auckland at THE EDGE on Friday 7 September.The public are invited to see the latest from the next generation of Aotearoa playwrights, after a week-long workshop of their plays with industry professionals and students from UNITEC. The New Zealand Young Playwrights' Competition is widely considered to be the country's pre-eminent stepping stone for young writers aged 16 to 24 for our theatre.

Plays to be presented are by Thomas Sainsbury (Auckland), Ashley Milne (Auckland). Branwen Millar (Wellington), Georgina Titheridge (Wellington), Thalia Henry (Otago) and Kate Morris (Christchurch).

These young playwrights will be working with some of New Zealand's best; directors and dramaturgs involved in the week-long workshop are Oliver Driver, Sam Scott, Stephen Sinclair, Dianna Fuemana, Pip Hall, Rachel House, Stephen Bain, Margaret Mary-Hollins, Cameron Rhodes and James Beaumont.

The public are invited to attend one or more of these presentations, occurring over 12 hours on Friday September 7 at The Herald Theatre, THE EDGE, Aotea Centre. Free entry
