Central to the leadership process is your ability as a learner. Good leaders are great learners. While they learn much through the challenges they overcome, they also learn through the opportunity to explore their experiences with their peers.
The purpose of this leadership day is to bring leaders together to explore new opportunities for greater impact and enjoyment in the leadership role. Every dollar raised from the 2008 leadership day will go to helping kids from low decile schools to get to the 2009 Capital E Festival of the Arts.Central to the leadership process is your ability as a learner. WHO IS THE WORKSHOP FOR?
Leaders who:
-Want to explore new options for making the most of their talent;
-Need to take time out to refl ect on their leadership and the opportunities for greater
effectiveness; or
-Have a specifi c challenge that they would like to begin to fi nd a solution to.
Benefi ts include:
-A clearer roadmap for navigating the challenges of organisational life;
-New perspectives and possibilities for the everyday challenges of leadership; and
-A clearer understanding of the opportunities for better personal and organisational performance.
THE LEADERSHIP DAY CONSISTS OF FOUR SESSIONS:
The Inspirational Leader:
Leaving a legacy that matters (and keeping your sanity too)
Inspirational leaders leave a legacy. While no leader comes to work to be 'average', this is where too many leaders end up. This presentation speaks to the true nature of leadership and highlights the key behaviours that all leaders can engage in order to have a lasting impact.
The Dance of Change:
Five key strategies for leading the dance rather than being lead by the nose.
Many organisations struggle to lead change effectively. A major reason is that the leaders themselves don't understand 'the dance of change'. This presentation helps leaders to lead the dance more effectively - to read it, to respond to it and to stay three moves ahead.
Creative Leadership:
How to spark new thinking in others (without doing all the work)
Any leader who believes they need to come up with all the ideas is working too hard and wasting the talents of others. No leader can have all the answers. This is because there are simply too many different problems and challenges. The focus of this presentation is on the key steps a leader can take to spark bright ideas for better results.
Leadership On The Run:
Ten quick-fire tactics for putting the results back into leadership
Being a leader is often challenging - the volume of work, ongoing change, team member demands, phone calls and meetings, difficult employees etc. etc.. It can often seem that there simply isn't the time to get the important things done. This presentation focuses on putting the results back into leadership while easing the leadership load.
WHAT IS CAPITAL E?
Capital E has provided a centre of creative excellence for young New Zealanders for over 11 years.
The centre inspires creativity in children through:
1. The OnTV Studio - where children work as a team to develop, produce and present live-to-air television.
2. SoundHouseNZ - where children compose, create, and collaborate on original music, digital stories, animation, computer game design.
3. The National Theatre for Children - where new works for children are created and toured throughout New Zealand and the Asia-Pacifi c region.
4. The Annual Events Programme - examples include make-up prosthetics, robotic design, movie stunt work, and traditional harakeke weaving.
WHAT IS THE CAPITAL E ARTS FESTIVAL?
The festival is a biennial celebration of professional performing arts from around New Zealand and around the world. The festival delivers high quality performances in music, dance, theatre and traditional art forms to young people and has an amazing impact. Children are delighted - they learn, laugh, play and share experiences they don't normally have in their day-to-day lives - and they come away excited about their own creative potential.
MAKING IT ACCESSIBLE FOR EVERYONE
Capital E aims to make the March 2009 festival as accessible as possible. The 2007 festival saw in excess of 32,000 tickets sold to young people and their families. At the last festival, the average price was under $4 per event (the best price for the same performances at Brisbane's Children's Arts Festival was $45).
In 2007 Capital E provided a subsidy for low-income schools to give as many children as possible the opportunity to attend the festival.
"Having the 100% bus subsidy was the only way we could afford to offer the opportunity to our children." St Michaels School, Taita.
"We were very grateful for the subsidised ticket costs. Because they were affordable for our community, we were able to book our whole small school." Glenview School, Porirua.
Every dollar raised from the 2008 leadership day will go to helping kids from low income schools to get to the 2009 Capital E Festival of the Arts.
