Lyell Cresswell, this year's New Zealand School of Music / Creative NZ Composer-in-Residence, dives into 450 compositions, submitted to the Asia Pacific Festival from all over the world.

Between 8 and 16 February 2007, Wellington will host the 26th edition of the Asia Pacific Festival. The Festival will offer a colourful programme dedicated to contemporary and traditional music, and music-theatre from the Asia Pacific region. Lyell Cresswell, this year's New Zealand School of Music / Creative NZ Composer-in-Residence, dives into 450 compositions, submitted to the Asia Pacific Festival from all over the world.

Between 8 and 16 February 2007, Wellington will host the 26th edition of the Asia Pacific Festival. The Festival will offer a colourful programme dedicated to contemporary and traditional music, and music-theatre from the Asia Pacific region.It will bring to Wellington musicians, puppeteers and singers/actors from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, USA, Australia, Israel and China.

The Festival features works by living composers, performed by leading overseas and New Zealand musicians such as the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Trio, STROMA and Tower New Zealand Youth Choir.

Following an invitation to submit works, more than 450 compositions have been received from over 20 countries including the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Romania, Italy, Finland, Japan, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and Israel. A selection of these works will be performed.

The Asia Pacific Festival is organised annually and rotates throughout the Asia Pacific region. The 27th edition will take place in Hong Kong in November 2007.
