The Living Art of Pacific Tattoo', now on at Mangere Arts Centre, previewed at the Tattoonesia Tattoo convention in 2005 in Moorea, Tahiti, followed by showings in Milan and Auckland City.

Now Manukau residents get a chance to see this outstanding exhibition of photography which focuses on the art of ta moko, tatau, tatu and tattoo within communities living in New Zealand and the Pacific.The Living Art of Pacific Tattoo', now on at Mangere Arts Centre, previewed at the Tattoonesia Tattoo convention in 2005 in Moorea, Tahiti, followed by showings in Milan and Auckland City.

Now Manukau residents get a chance to see this outstanding exhibition of photography which focuses on the art of ta moko, tatau, tatu and tattoo within communities living in New Zealand and the Pacific.Artists featured in this exhibition are: Mark Adams, Tricia Allen, Greg Semu, Serena Stevenson, Becky Nunes, Bonnie Tamati, Marsha Angou, James Pinker, Makarita Urale, Steven Ball, Makiko Kuwahara, Miki Magasiva, Lisa Taouma and Mark Mclean.

The exhibition focuses on telling Pacific stories and exploring areas of social discourse within these cultures. "All the artists were chosen because of their commitment and passion for documenting living tatau and ta moko tattoo cultures in the Pacific" says Steven Ball, curator.

Tattoo artists Kasala Sanele and Croc and others will be demonstrating their craft on site throughout the exhibition

Manukau residents with tattoos are invited to come and meet curator Steven Ball and have their tattoos photographed by him and assistant Serena Stevenson. All participants will receive a copy of their image.
