From September short film and Vj'ing has a new home in Wellington. Thanks to the Moving Image Centre and the Film Archive a new once a month event will show short films by emerging film makers followed by an open deck VJ session. The event, called Short Fuse and Intersect, has been run by the MIC in Auckland at Galatos for over a year now. From September short film and Vj'ing has a new home in Wellington. The event, called Short Fuse and Intersect, has been run by the MIC in Auckland at Galatos for over a year now.Short Fuse , the short film component of the night, has been running for 10 years in Auckland with Intersect starting up due to the increase in interest for live visuals and vj'ing.

The organiser of the event in Wellington, Robert Appierdo believes Wellington is over due for an event like this. "The city is a hotbed for creative talent but the community for film makers and Vj's has lacked a focal point...the idea behind these events is to give directors a chance to air their short films and local Vj's the opportunity to play live in front of an audience."

The event will take place at Wellington Film Archive with the short films will being shown in the theatre while the Vj session (Intersect) will be held in the bar/cafe area.

A new projector has been installed that will project to above the bar allowing audience to relax on the couches and enjoy the view. Music will be provided by local Dj's and in the future the event will also feature live electronica and acoustic acts.

MIC has had a busy few months with taking over 321 Krd which will be the home to the new Gallery opening in March 07.
