Wanganui High School won both the Ilford Shield and the Len Casbolt Memorial Trophy for the 40th Anniversary of the Ilford Shield Secondary Schools Photography Competition this year.
Wanganui High School won both the Ilford Shield and the Len Casbolt Memorial Trophy for the 40th Anniversary of the Ilford Shield Secondary Schools Photography Competition this year.
A total of 863 images were entered from 28 secondary schools from throughout New Zealand. C.R. Kennedy Ltd who is the sponsor for the Ilford Shield will present the prizes and awards to both the school and the individual winners.
The overall Champion image, 1st in Class A - Black and White and winner of the Len Casbolt Memorial Trophy was by Jodie Shiels-Redden from Wanganui High School. The champion image was entitled ‘The Perfect Child.”
2nd in Class A- Black and White awarded to Raphael Hubl from MacLean’s College with an image titled ‘Twilight.’
1st in Class B- Digital Creative Effects was won by Colie Leung from MacLean’s College with an image titled “Medium Format ( Katie).”
2nd in Class B- Digital Creative Effects awarded to Ardit Hoxha from Selwyn College with an image titled “Hynesha.”
The Nature Photography Society of New Zealand Inc from Christchurch ran this year’s competition. The winning images will be exhibited at the Christchurch Central Library, Gloucester Street, Christchurch from Monday 7th September to Friday 18th September.
