Kiwi film Second-Hand Wedding will break the $1 million mark at the New Zealand Box Office this weekend, after just five weeks on screen.

A small film with a big heart, Second Hand Wedding is a bittersweet dramatic comedy set in the present, in a time when trademe and e-bay threaten the primeval urge for a firsthand crack at the second-hand. Jill keeps the dream alive until she is forced to confront the habits of a lifetime and concede that no bargain is worth her daughter's happiness.

Second Hand Wedding's producers are Kerry Robins (Utu), and Nigel Stanford. It is director Paul Murphy's first feature film building on his work directing commercials and television drama (Sensing Murder) and his 30 years working in the technical area of film production. Paul's creative team also includes director of photography Richard Bluck (Lord of the Rings, King Kong), casting agent Tina Cleary and production designer Brad Mill (Lord of the Rings, The Water Horse). Nick Ward (Stickmen, The Ferryman) and Linda Niccol (The Handkerchief) wrote Second Hand Wedding; Nick Ward conceived the story which was based on his family.
