Kerry Warkia started her career as an actress, but is increasingly making a name for herself as a successful producer in the web world. She is the producer of Auckland Daze, Flat3, and Nia’s Extra Ordinary Life.

Warkia and her husband Kiel McNaughton run production company Brown Sugar Apple Grunt, and are two of the key creative forces behind hit Maori Television show Find Me a Maori Bride.

In this ScreenTalk, Warkia talks about:

• How finding it tough to find acting work led to her successful producing career
• Being given a chance to contribute to the story while acting in 2005 horror movie Hidden
• The "terrifying and wonderful" experience of producing Auckland Daze
• How complaining about a character got her an acting role in the show
• Making Halloween special End of Daze in 15 days
• Being proud of having three strong Kiwi Asian women in online comedy Flat3
• Deliberately not providing all the answers on children's web series Nia’s Extra Ordinary Life
• Wanting to play with the reality genre with hit comedy series Find Me a Maori Bride
• The show's dream cast
• Seeing feature films and comedy at the heart of her future endeavours
