A sprinkling of fairy dust has influenced the Royal New Zealand Ballet's 2009 programme with three family-friendly seasons that will please everyone who enjoys a touch of magic with their dance.

The year begins with TOWER Tutus on Tour, during which the dancers travel from Invercargill to Kaitaia to perform a season of stunning classical and contemporary works.The Meridian Season of La Sylphide follows in July, bringing one of the great romantic ballets back to the stage. La Sylphide provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the founding father of the RNZB, Poul Gnatt, by presenting one of the most beautiful ballets from the Danish School, choreographed by August Bournonville.
Featuring witches, fairy-like sylphs and stunningly beautiful sets, this classical masterpiece is a breathtaking ballet.
And for those who never want to grow up, the enchanting tale of Peter Pan tours nationwide from October to December. Indians, pirates, and the Lost Boys join feisty fairy Tinkerbell, Wendy, Peter Pan and the scheming Captain Hook in this swashbuckling family favourite.
Royal New Zealand Ballet Artistic Director Gary Harris says the 2009 programme truly has something for everyone.
"We've mixed in some classics, added a few works that challenge and stirred in a family favourite. It's a recipe we think audiences will enjoy."
