I knew there would be many tears shed throughout the world in the coming weeks, and decided the teardrop would be an appropriate form to express my feelings. After making a simple sketch I began to work immediately with the wood. As the design unfolded, I wanted to see hope rather than sorrow. The two vertical portions of the work, while slightly different in form, and separated from each other, still originate from the one core. I see this as a peaceful co-existence.
