In March 2007, the Moving Image Centre (MIC) will open the doors to its newly refurbished gallery. Restless - a gritty exhibition of video installations - has been chosen for this prestigious event, which marks a new era in the MIC's 16-year history. The inaugural exhibition is curated by internationally acclaimed artist Lisa Reihana, who has played a leading role in the development of film and multimedia art in Aotearoa.In March 2007, the Moving Image Centre (MIC) will open the doors to its newly refurbished gallery. The inaugural exhibition is curated by internationally acclaimed artist Lisa Reihana, who has played a leading role in the development of film and multimedia art in Aotearoa."It's an honour to develop a project for MIC," says Reihana, "because I was a member of the working party that originally proposed the centre in 1991, and subsequently secured funding for its development in 1992."

The Restless artists - Brett Graham, John Miller, Lonnie Hutchinson, Parekohai Whakamoe, Junior Ikitule and Dean Kirkwood - have taken this opportunity to make a mark in time. Their works trace where we have been; suggest where we locate ourselves now; and create poetic, dreamlike spaces with a sharp edge. The viewer will leave with much to consider and provocative reasons to return.
