A Profile of Me - Imogen Neale

If it involves words then count me in. From my Sociology MA thesis to my short stories, poetry to journal articles, interviews to copy writing - I live for the time I get to play with words, craft stories and build worlds. From my Sociology MA thesis to my short stories, poetry to journal articles, interviews to copy writing - I live for the time I get to play with words, craft stories and build worlds. I have written in freelance capacity for magazines such as (the now defunct) Staple and Lucid, Pulp, Varsity, Lumiere and the Graduate Journal of Asia Pacific Studies .In 2005 I completed my Sociology MA thesis which looked at the Singaporean government's use of culture and the arts as economic and developmental tools. I also completed a six month editorial internship at PULP magazine, and was awarded an ASIANZ Post-Graduate Research Scholarship and was selected to become the new host of Sunday Best, the Sunday breakfast show on the Auckland radio station, 95bfm .

In the short time I have had the show I have endeavored to make it a space for people to connect - the artist or talent to the people if you like. I believe that there are not enough mediums like this, that a lot of talent, hard work and passionate thinking is plonked on to a shelf somewhere never to be seen again. Or, in the case of poetry or performance art - put in to a journal or forum where only the motivated and familiar will come into contact with it. I'd like Sunday Best to disrupt that trend in some, probably small, way.

I believe that a talented writer should be able to write about anything for anyone, anywhere at anytime and thus I'm certainly open to ideas for projects to get involved with or in. I'm currently thinking lyrics would be fun to explore - as long as someone else sings them!
