Writer, filmmaker, and video artist Paul Amlehn will exhibit his video art trilogy Loakal at the upcoming IX Bienal Internacional de Cuenca, in Ecuador. Writer, filmmaker, and video artist Paul Amlehn will exhibit his video art trilogy Loakal at the upcoming IX Bienal Internacional de Cuenca, in Ecuador.Amlehn is the first New Zealand artist to be invited to participate in the Cuenca Bienal in its 20-year history. The inclusion of Amlehn's work in the Cuenca Bienal is a continuation of his recent successes on the Biennale circuit, with exhibitions at the 2nd Biennale di Ferrara, and the 51st Biennale di Venezia.
"I am thrilled to be participating in the Cuenca Bienal. The city of Cuenca has many fascinating aspects to its history, not the least of which was that it was formerly part of the Inca Empire. I hope to travel to Ecuador in April to attend the exhibition in person and soak up some of the local atmosphere and culture."
The IX Bienal Internacional de Cuenca takes place at the Municipal Museum of Modern Art in Cuenca, Ecuador, and runs from April 11 - June 8, 2007.
