This is Nicky Foreman's first major solo exhibition since her residency in Vallauris in the South of France earlier this year and is a real celebration of painting.

As a mid career artist Nicky Foreman is clearly positioned as one of our strongest regional New Zealand painters- she is one of a few women artists leading the way in this genre. While still only in her thirties she is following in the steps of artists like Michael Smither , her work is collected widely internationally and locally by corporate and private collectors.

While her paintings still reference New Zealand in particular the Taranaki landscape there is now a much bolder use of colour. The motifs and colours of the region of the France where she lived and worked for three months are apparent in this work. The rich reds, soft pinks and cool blues of the Cote d'Azure provide a rich palette which combined with her confident and assured painting style make for a very sophisticated and beautiful show.
