Ceramicist Jim Cooper cites one of the world's most iconic album covers - The Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - as a major inspiration behind his latest artworks on display at TheNewDowse.Modelling over 100 toddler-sized celebrity figures from his remote Dunedin-based studio, Cooper has created a 'who's who' of 1960s' pop icons, musicians, film stars and royal figures.
Drawing on various influences from the Rolling Stones' Satanic Majesty's Request and the music of The Incredible String Band, Cooper has channelled the 60s culture of freedom, youth and psychedelia to create this busy, boisterous 3D collage.
