Chloe Geoghegan has been appointed the new director of the Blue Oyster Art Project Space in Dunedin.

Chloe comes to Blue Oyster from Christchurch where she has been the co-director of Dog Park Art Project Space, a hugely successful artist-run space founded in 2012.

Bringing with her the experience gained running curatorial projects and managing Dog Park for the past two years, she has a background in fine arts and curatorial studies and has worked with institutions such as COCA, the Physics Room and City Gallery Wellington. Academically, Chloe has written extensively on the history of artist-run spaces in New Zealand, and for publications such as un Magazine, Hue & Cry and Magasine.

With an interest in developing project-based exhibitions, events and publications investigating experimental contemporary practices, Blue Oyster anticipates an energetic and diverse programme by local and international artists in the coming years.

"We are looking forward to her enthusiastic leadership as director of the Blue Oyster."

The board of trustees would like to thank Jamie Hanton for his dedication to the Dunedin arts community. He approached the Director position with a joyful verve and we wish him all the best in his new role at the University of Canterbury.
