Dance Aotearoa New Zealand (DANZ), the national organisation for dance, has this week launched their new look DANZ Quarterly Magazine into shops and bookstores nationwide.

"DANZ Quarterly is a must-read for anyone passionate about teaching, performing or watching our beautiful artform," says leading contemporary dance choreographer Shona McCullagh.Dance Aotearoa New Zealand (DANZ), the national organisation for dance, has this week launched their new look DANZ Quarterly Magazine into shops and bookstores nationwide.

"DANZ Quarterly is a must-read for anyone passionate about teaching, performing or watching our beautiful artform," says leading contemporary dance choreographer Shona McCullagh."It's a rich resource and is nearly solely responsible for the growth of the rising calibre of dance writing in New Zealand. This magazine is and will become a significant part of our precious dance history."

The current issue includes an interview with choreographer Raewyn Hill; an article on the Exerdance programme, which has been designed in Christchurch to get people off the couch; and a discussion with Amanda Skoog, the new CEO of the Royal New Zealand Ballet on the changes she's seen in New Zealand dance.

Amanda describes DANZ Quarterly as, "essential - it connects the Dance Community of New Zealand."

DANZ Quarterly includes performance reviews by key figures in New Zealand dance and profiles upcoming events. This issue covers New Zealand's first Salsa Congress, works by New Zealand choreographers in the Auckland Festival AK07, the New Zealand School of Dance Choreographic Season and the Tango show One Night in Buenos Aires. Next issue will carry a feature article on the 2007 Te Matatini National Kapa Haka Festival.
