Melanie Burford, 35, is the first New Zealand female photo-grapher to win a Pulitzer Prize. Last month, it was announced that the former Evening Post photojournalist was part of a team from the Dallas Morning News that won a Pulitzer for their portfolio on Hurricane Katrina (right), which devastated New Orleans last year.
