Fewer people could go on to write and speak about it; yet Mary Quin has managed to do so in her fascinating book Kidnapped in Yemen. It recounts her terrifying kidnapping, where four of her fellow prisoners are killed during the rescue.

Even more remarkable then the events of the rescue are her resulting strength and determination to survive. Drawing on her extensive background in business, travel and a strong passion for women's rights, Quin is an inspiring speaker and we are lucky to have her at a New Zealand Book Council event.
