Maori taonga stolen from museum

Treasured Maori artefacts valued at $500,000 have been pilfered from a Banks Peninsula museum, leaving the curator and Ngai Tahu devastated. Thieves cut through the roof of the Okains Bay Maori and Colonial Museum to get inside and smashed locked cases between Thursday night and yesterday morning, taking seven pieces of greenstone, including rare tools.
