An auction featuring work by some of the country's top Maori artists, including Shane Cotton, Simon Kaan and Areta Wilkinson, is being held at the Shona MacFarlane Gallery in the Dunedin Railway Station on 29 June.

The event will raise funds for the establishment of a Te Waka Hurhuhuru Manu Bilingual Early Childhood Centre in Dunedin. An auction featuring work by some of the country's top Maori artists, including Shane Cotton, Simon Kaan and Areta Wilkinson, is being held at the Shona MacFarlane Gallery in the Dunedin Railway Station on 29 June.

The event will raise funds for the establishment of a Te Waka Hurhuhuru Manu Bilingual Early Childhood Centre in Dunedin.The vision to create a quality bilingual early childhood education and care option for tamariki in Dunedin was initiated by a number of local whanau in 2003. The aim is to develop a centre that works from a kaupapa Maori philosophy and offers quality care and education that will initially be bilingual, but which will be developed as a total immersion centre as it evolved.

Artworks will be available for viewing at the Gallery from 12noon - 5pm, Tuesday 26 June - Friday 29 June, and can also be viewed online from the Tuesday of that week.

Other artists featured include Clive Arlidge, Ross Hemera, Marilyn Webb, Dave Burke, James York and Ewan Duff.

Simon Kaan will be giving a floor talk about the various art works on Thursday 28 June.
