Karen Walker has a good eye for a frock, but she's also got a good ear for a phrase. Her latest collection (raved about by British journalists at London Fashion Week a fortnight ago) is called "Living with Cannibals and Other Adventures". Its theme? "Sort of 30s adventuress crash-lands in the jungle," Walker says. She's a major brand: worldwide, Karen Walker Clothing is sold in 120 stores. It's worn by celebrities from Madonna to Mandy Moore. The Listener went to her workroom.
