The Art of Hearing Trust is giving NZ art lovers have the chance to buy limited edition prints by four prominent New Zealand artists while at the same time helping to raise funds for important cochlear implant procedures.

There are only 60 box sets of limited edition prints by Dick Frizzell, Jacqui Fahey, Denys Watkins and Kate Small available.

Image: Vibes by Denys Watkins, 2007The Art of Hearing is an initiative by the Pindrop Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Northern Cochlear Implant Trust.

Dr. Di McCarthy, Chair of Trustees for the Pindrop Foundation says the aim of the event is to raise much needed funds to enable a greater number of implant operations and showcase the significant advancements in cochlear technology.

"Cochlear implants can make a real difference to people suffering from hearing loss and we believe it is the right of every adult and child who would benefit from such a procedure to receive one within an appropriate time frame. There are 79 Adults currently on the waiting list nationally.

"We are delighted the four well-known artists have agreed to support the event and believe the limited edition set of four prints will prove to be a real drawcard with the Auckland art and business community."

Speaking on behalf of the artists, Dick Frizzell said all the artists were delighted to be involved in the Art of Hearing event.

"It is a very practical way to raise funds for the Pindrop Foundation and ensure a greater number of people can receive cochlear implants."
