Originally inspired by light hearted designs in Chinese folk art papercuts, the works feature intricate silhouettes of animals within animals, painstakingly cut from hand-coloured paper."As a technique, papercutting has some very strict limitations, but I enjoy the challenge of having to communicate an idea with only line, mass and pattern," says John.

Papercutting developed in the 6th Century and has evolved uniquely all over the world, often incorporating visual elements that emphasise detail and symmetry.

Titled with idioms like 'Cock and Bull' and designed to bring a smile to our lips, the stunning works in this exhibition will brighten your winter weekend.
