INVASIAN, a performance/installation event, arose originally as an exploration of issues deriving from the highly visible influx of Asian migrants to Auckland over the 80s, 90s and today. The word 'invAsian' condenses the two separate words invasion and Asian into one, evoking ideas such as large-scale movements and migrations of bodies and cultures, ethnic and cultural conflicts and prejudices, hybridity, hostility, ideology, and politics.

True to the multiple possibilities and valences of this word, the activities, sounds and images over 3 nights present audiences with interrelating scenarios of unmixed and remixed cultures; scenarios that derive from experiences and imaginations of travel, dislocation and relocation spanning Singapore, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and New Zealand.
