Karyn Hay is one of two Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellows for 2004, which means she gets $10,000 and use of a poky historic inner-city Auckland flat for six months. During the week, she leaves her family in Titirangi to spend mornings co-hosting Channel Z's breakfast show and afternoons working on her second book.
