Hundreds of people are putting their hands up to be a part of an inspirational new community that aims to support young professionals in developing and achieving solutions for sustainability. Launching this week in Wellington, The Intersect Network will provide opportunities for members through events such as a national climate change innovation award and by collaborating on sustainability-related projects, engaging mentors, and facilitating on-line discussion via the website's blog. Hundreds of people are putting their hands up to be a part of an inspirational new community that aims to support young professionals in developing and achieving solutions for sustainability. Launching this week in Wellington, The Intersect Network will provide opportunities for members through events such as a national climate change innovation award and by collaborating on sustainability-related projects, engaging mentors, and facilitating on-line discussion via the website's blog.The network was started by four young Wellington-based professionals - Sarah Campbell (URS), Liv Hollins (MORST), Mahara Inglis (MFE) and Murray Whyte (Duncan Cotterill) - and has been developed with support and mentoring from Megan Hosking (Alto Design).

"The way we will achieve the necessary culture change to live sustainably is with great leadership," says Megan. "We should never underestimate how important young people are in shaping culture".

The Intersect Network has so far received huge support from a wide range of organisations including Vodafone and URS.

Trustee of Intersect Livia Hollins says: "Today more than ever before we are being challenged to come up with new ideas to live more sustainably from the little things to the big things. Intersect is an exciting and fun way to make this happen, through linking fresh enthusiastic thinking with today's movers and shakers to growing young leaders for sustainability".
