Mary Newton Gallery's first exhibition for the year is I Must Behave, new work by Bruce Connew.

The exhibition includes photographic images collected around the world as well as the Censored triptych that was recently short-listed for the Waikato Art Awards."I Must Behave takes a sideways glance at behaviour, the notion that, wherever we might be, we are controlled by social, cultural and political mores ... customs, conventions, ways of life, traditions, practices, habits," Connew said.

This work follows on from the 2007 surveillance project, I Saw You, and is the second in a series of three projects over three years, each examining a social/political theme.

The exhibition contains 14 images from the I Must Behave series. The full series of 150 images is also published in book form.

I Must Behave runs until 28 Februay 2009.
