Image: Reuben Paterson designed fabrics on World stage.Too many fashionistas for too few tickets - everyone wanting to see World's "I don't like sport but I can high jump.". And it was worth the wait.
The elegant salon complete with portrait of the Queen was sardine-tin packed but no-one was complaining. World opened with Ready to Wear. Brilliantly bright candy coloured knits- the hottest pink, emerald green, bright orange, canary yellow, worn together or combined with denim and topped off with oversized bows.
All that glitters is World Eveningwear. It's theatre, with inspirational hair and makeup by Brent Lawler. Metallic gold in jackets, skirts, pants, silver dresses, combine with fabulous metallic face paint. Take your pick from a seductive black sequined dress, a brash orange jacket or a cascade of pastel pink ruffles.
But the Worldman Couture proves that men are the peacocks of this world. Reuben Paterson designed the sequined fabrics for a series of glitter suits. Worn bare-chested by lounge lizards with brilliantined hair and pencil moustaches each was more spectacular than the last. Our pick was in glittering shades of pink with a flower print.
As always World enthralled. The show proving once again that Francis Hooper and Denise L'Estrange-Corbet, in concert with Brent Lawler and Reuben Paterson, have made World truly a factory of fabulous ideas and experiments.
