Genevieve Beech has been appointed as General Manager of the Hawke’s Bay Museums Trust /Ruawharo Ta-u-rangi. Hawke’s Bay Museums Trust Acting Chief Executive, Neil Fergus will stand down to focus on his responsibilities as Manager, Tourism Services, Napier City Council.

Genevieve has a wealth of experience across both the financial services and cultural sectors. As Auckland Art Gallery’s Manager, Marketing and Communications, Genevieve contributed to the Gallery’s strategic planning and business development. More recently, she managed Auckland Art Gallery’s sponsorship portfolio and played an integral role in the Gallery’s development opening planning. Genevieve also assisted the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation in its development capital raising campaign.

In the past, Genevieve held senior marketing management positions at both Toronto Dominion Bank and Dresdner Bank in London, and at Bank of Montreal in Toronto. Genevieve holds a Master of Arts in Cultural and Creative Industries from University of London; a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management from Otago University.

The Hawke’s Bay Museums Trust is a registered charitable trust responsible for protecting and developing the Hawke’s Bay regional collection. This collection is of national significance and includes Hawke’s Bay and New Zealand Social History, Toanga Maori and Fine Arts, as well as photographs, archival documents and publications. The collection is available for use by both the Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery and the Hasting City Art Gallery.

As General Manager of the Hawke’s Bay Museums Trust, Genevieve will work closely with the Hawke’s Bay Museums Trust Board, regional councils, Iwi and other key stakeholders to ensure that the regional collection is cared for, maintained and enhanced for the people of Hawke’s Bay to access and enjoy.
