It is well known, we said, that the currency of business in any sector is networks - creating, building and navigating them, and within the 'new' economy, effectively using them. With the launch of The Big Idea 2.0 just around the corner, we had occasion on our seventh birthday recently to look over how we described our big goal for The Big Idea way back when.

It is well known, we said, that the currency of business in any sector is networks - creating, building and navigating them, and within the 'new' economy, effectively using them.Central to the big idea is the vision that through connecting with others all over the world and sharing innovation, knowledge and vision - artists and creators here readily access the inspiration and resources needed to fuel success and sustainability.

In these troubled financial times, it also worth recalling something that ICT strategist Kevin Kelly said back then: "As tremendous as the influence of financial inventions has been, the influence of network inventions will be as great or greater." And so it is proving to be.

It's very pleasing then to finish the year knowing that our original vision for The Big Idea remains strong and that with the launch of The Big Idea 2.0, 2009 will deliver you one of the best online community networking inventions currently available.

All the very best for the holiday season . . . Nga mihi mo te tau hou . . .
