The Going West Books & Writers Festival 2007 is happening from Friday 14 - Sunday 16 September at the Titirangi War Memorial Hall. The theme? 'Food for Thought'.

Featured events include a reading from renowned author and poet Sam Sampson, award-winning Irish playwright Ursula Rani Sarma as a guest speaker and Owen Marshall (pictured) discussing his new novel, Drybread, with Graham Beattie.The Going West Books & Writers Festival 2007 is happening from Friday 14 - Sunday 16 September at the Titirangi War Memorial Hall. Featured events include a reading from renowned author and poet Sam Sampson, award-winning Irish playwright Ursula Rani Sarma as a guest speaker and Owen Marshall (pictured) discussing his new novel, Drybread, with Graham Beattie.There will also be two new books launched (McCahon - The Titirangi Years, by Peter Simpson and To the Harbour, by painter and printmaker Stanley Palmer) and a celebration of the Blerta years with interviews, anecdotes and a live performance from the original members.

Hatch or The Plight of the Penguins at the Glen Eden Playhouse will be the Festival's opening event and run from the 29 August to the 1 September.

A second-hand book market will be held on Saturday 8 September, 9am-2pm, at the Titirangi War Memorial Hall.

Poetry Slam, an evening for poets to perform their work and and win cash prizes, will be at the Titirangi War Memorial Hall, Saturday 8 September, 7pm start.
