A chance conversation at a picnic table eighteen months ago has culminated in this exhibition charting the course of two artists newly arrived on Waiheke Island.Each artist is from different artistic disciplines: Bridget Oakley-Stevens an established painter with an impressive international exhibition record and Wendy Neale a furniture designer and sculptor developing a strong reputation in the arts and design areas.

This exhibition promises to be an exciting, thought-provoking investigation into energy. Using a variety of media these works are a colourful, textural range of paintings, lights and cabinets. Oakley-Stevens says "I search for signs and symbols to express our condition as human beings and use colour and light to stimulate a response within the viewer". While the two artists' subject matter is very different, their work is linked through colour, texture, a sense of presence and by the shared experience of being women and recent arrivals to Waiheke Island. Neale says "These pieces continue my investigations into the female form and the garments that clothe it. I combine this with a curiousity about the use of interior space and how that use is affected by the objects within it".

The exhibition runs from Tuesday March 15th with an opening function that evening from 5pm - 7pm and concludes on Sunday April 3rd.
