Flight Of The Conchords have won the 'Best Comedy Album' Grammy for their comedy EP 'The Distant Future'.

The six track EP by Wellingtonians Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement features 'Business Time', 'If You're Into It' and 'Not Crying' and live versions of 'The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room' and 'Robots.' The EP was released in August last year by Sub Pop Records.The EP won the award at the 50th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles today.

The comedy-duo were up against four other artists for their Grammy, including Harry Shearer - best known for This Is Spinal Tap and as a voice artist on The Simpsons.

Other nominees for Best Comedy Album (For comedy recordings, spoken or musical) were America's Mexican, George Lopez [Comedy Central Records], Dirty Girl, Lisa Lampanelli [Warner Bros.], I Still Have A Pony, Steven Wright [Comedy Central Records], Songs Pointed & Pointless, Harry Shearer [Courgette Records].

The HBO Flight of Conchords series about their struggles in New York was also nominated for three awards at the Writers Guild Awards but missed out on a win.

Writters Damon Beesley, James Bobin, Jemaine Clement, Eric Kaplan, Bret McKenzie, Iain Morris, Duncan Sarkies, Paul Simms, Taika Waititi; HBO were nominated for best comedy series, best new series, and best episodic comedy.
