The PR Gallery this week warmly welcomes sisters Saffron and Sola Laurence-Bade, two very talented female Maori artists.

Saffron and Sola are creative as well as resourceful with using varying degrees of mixed media. Their palette of colour and paints incorporate enamel, acrylic, oils, PVA, stressed copper, fairy lights, feathers, bamboo, pebbles and shells from their whanau beach in Whangaruru.
Sola uses a combination of canvas and board for her pieces while Saffron
uses canvas to express her artistic voice. Both sisters have almost a
third eye in drawing on the beautiful magic which surrounds them and
depicting the pure essence of the object or subject.

PR Gallery is proud to exhibit Saffron and Sola Laurence-Bade.

Saffron Laurence-Bade:
Auckland based artist Saffron, has worked in the field of Graphic Design
for close to 10 years creating stylish and cutting edge graphical design
for some of Auckland's most prominent corporate companies. Constantly
pushing the boundaries Saffron employs her love of nature's beauty into
her work as a graphic artist and as a more prominently as a painter.
Saffron enjoys painting beauty that appeals to her which many of her
work depicts, she has a strong affinity with mother earth in all her
forms and derives comfort from the opening blossoms of mother nature.
Named to the beguiling beauty of the Saffron flower it is obvious by the
very derivation of her name why she sources much comfort with the
perfumed colour of nature.

Sola Laurence-Bade:
West Auckland based artist Sola, mother of two delightful children, son
- 5yrs and daughter - 9yrs, works as a Professional Photographer for a
West Auckland based company.
Sola allows her thought process to shape how a pieces eventually is put
together, her generation of ideas from concept to application, is a
process she uses to allow the pieces to form its on journey. Sola uses
the practise of mixed media to enhance a piece she is concentrating on.
Sola has used in her works, PVA, acrylic, feathers, stressed copper,
bamboo, and shells to add 2 dimensional texture to her work
incorporating these media on to canvas and board.
At present Sola has a strong affinity with vivid reds, deep blacks and
accenting white, which feature strongly in her work.
